Global Food Regulators Summit 2025 Promotes Global Food Safety

The Global Food Regulators Summit 2025 held in New Delhi by FSSAI focused on collaboration on food safety issues worldwide, safer food systems and India as the lead country in developing food safety standards.

GFRS 2025, the Global Food Regulators Summit which took place in New Delhi on 26-27 September, has strengthened the significance of international cooperation in promoting safer food systems. The summit was organised by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and was aligned with World Food India 2025, and it involved regulators, scientists and policymakers all over the world.

Safer Food Systems Theme and Vision.

The theme of the summit, Evolving Food Systems - Yatha Annam Tatha Manah, underscored the fact that food and whole being or physical, mental and social well-being are closely interrelated. The overall objective was to unify world food standards, enhance risk assessment activities, and whoop up the use of technology to come up with safe, sustainable and equitable food systems.

The contribution of India and FSSAI.

With the help of FSSAI, India has taken one of the largest steps in influencing food safety discourse worldwide. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare pointed out that regulators should be able to change fast in line with changing food practices and new market dynamics. Consistent revision on standards and regulations were found as a critical step towards addressing new innovations in the food industry.

The two day conference involved eight plenary sessions and parallel conclaves including the international organisations such as WHO, FAO, Codex Alimentarius and EFSA. Collaboration, regulatory harmonisation and capacity building at the global level was made possible by the interactive sessions and bilateral meetings, as well as knowledge-sharing platforms.

'Eat Right Thali' Initiative

One of the most important moments was the launch of the book "Eat right Thali" with the traditional Indian thalis of various states. This program glorifies local produce and healthy eating habits and encourage preventive health and obesity and lifestyle-related illnesses. It emphasizes the need to eat mindfully and indigenously in order to remain healthy in the long term.

The third edition of GFRS hosted in India has made India a well-known food safety destination in the world. The event opens the way to resilient, inclusive, and healthier food systems in the world by encouraging dialogue and innovation.
