Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 100th Birth Anniversary

India will observe the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 25 December , a day nationally celebrated as Good Governance Day . Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Lucknow to lead the centenary events, which honour Vajpayee’s political legacy, statesmanship and contributions to nation-building.

During the programme, the Prime Minister will felicitate senior BJP leaders who worked closely with Vajpayee throughout his political journey. The event is expected to witness significant public participation, reflecting the widespread respect Vajpayee continues to command across party lines. Modi will also address a gathering, highlighting the enduring relevance of Vajpayee’s governance principles—rooted in transparency, accountability and citizen welfare.

Educational Initiatives to Honour Vajpayee

Marking the centenary, PM Modi will unveil a series of educational and skill-development schemes named after Vajpayee. These initiatives aim to support inclusive learning, expand youth-focused opportunities and strengthen India’s human capital—a vision closely aligned with Vajpayee’s belief in education as the foundation of national progress.

Inauguration of the Prerna Sthal Museum

A major highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of Prerna Sthal , a newly established museum in Lucknow. The centre showcases memorabilia, personal artefacts and rare archival photographs of Vajpayee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee. Designed as a space for inspiration, the museum documents the ideological journey and contributions of these leaders to India’s development.
