Sundarbans Tiger Reserve Becomes 2nd Largest in India with Expansion

In August 2025, the National Board of Wildlife (NBWL) approved a major expansion of the Sundarbans Tiger Reserve (STR) in West Bengal, increasing its size by 1,044.68 square kilometres. This decision makes STR the second-largest tiger reserve in India, with a total area of 3,629.57 square kilometres, surpassed only by Andhra Pradesh’s Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve.

India Evolving Rocketry From Humble Beginnings to the Lunar Module Launch Vehicle (LMLV)

In a separate initiative, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is currently designing what would be the most powerful rocket to date the Lunar Module Launch Vehicle (LMLV). Scheduled to be ready by 2035, the LMLV will deliver 27 tonnes to the Moon and 80 tonnes to low Earth orbit (LEO) and is indicative of India as part of the push to achieve its ambitious targets, including the first crewed Moon mission targeted at 2040.

RBI Suggests Major Revamp in Liquidity Management to Boost Monetary Policy

Sensing a critical need to make its monetary policy effective, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has presented a detailed report of an Internal Working Group (IWG), which suggests a sweeping revision of the current liquidity management mechanism. The recommendations are intended to deal with ongoing problems related to managing the short-term interest rates, and providing more stability on the financial markets. This review is taking place at a time when turbulent government cash balances and an uncertain foreign currency forecast have challenged RBI to control systemic liquidity that is vital in relaying policy rate transitions to the rest of the economy.

India Assumes Chairmanship of Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Board to Increase Global Media Influence

It is a major diplomatic development that India has been elected as the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD). The election took place at the 23rd AIBD General Conference in Phuket, Thailand where India got the highest votes, and will have returned to this leadership position after almost a decade. This triumph affirms India position in the future of broadcasting in the Asia-Pacific region, and reaffirms the rising status of India in international media regulation.
