India Observes 76th Constitution Day: President Murmu and PM Modi to Lead Ceremony

India will observe the 76th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution with a national programme at Samvidhan Sadan , where President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to preside. The occasion reaffirms India’s commitment to constitutional ideals and democratic ethics that continue to guide legislative and civic life.

Central Hall Ceremony and Speeches by Key Leaders

The observance will take place in the Central Hall of Parliament on 26 November , beginning with a collective reading of the Preamble . President Murmu will address both Houses shortly after 11 a.m., joined by Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla as principal speakers. The programme emphasises unity across political lines and underscores the values of liberty, equality, justice and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution.

Release of Multilingual Constitution Editions

A major highlight of the ceremony is the launch of translated versions of the Constitution in nine languages — Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Nepali, Bodo, Kashmiri, Odia, Telugu and Assamese. A special booklet, Bharat ke Samvidhan Mein Kala aur Calligraphy , will also be introduced, showcasing artistic expressions associated with constitutional history and the diversity of India’s linguistic traditions.

Nationwide Participation Through Samvidhan Diwas Activities

Commemorative events will be organised across states, ministries, schools and panchayats. Citizens can join digitally by reading the Preamble, receiving participation certificates, and taking part in debates, quizzes, and essay contests under the theme “Hamara Samvidhan – Hamara Swabhiman.” Exhibitions, cultural programmes, and discussions will further promote public awareness of constitutional principles.
