StartupTN Launches Tamil Nadu’s First Village Startup Community in Coimbatore

Tamil Nadu has taken a major step toward grassroots entrepreneurship with the launch of the State’s first Village Startup Community at Pillaiappampalayam in Annur, Coimbatore district . The initiative has been rolled out under StartupTN’s flagship programme ‘Gramam Thorum Puthozhil’ , which aims to decentralise innovation and strengthen rural entrepreneurial ecosystems across the State.

Rural Innovation Hub to Empower Local Talent

The community has been set up in collaboration with the Rural Women Technology Park (RWTP) of PSGR Krishnammal College for Women . According to StartupTN, the initiative is designed to empower rural innovators, especially women, youth and differently abled persons , by providing access to mentorship, early-stage incubation, prototyping guidance and entrepreneurial training.

Bootcamps and capability-building sessions will be organised periodically for aspiring entrepreneurs. Selected participants will receive expanded support through StartupTN’s regional network, corporate linkages and incubation partners.

100 Startups Across 100 Villages

‘Gramam Thorum Puthozhil’ seeks to establish 100 rural startups across 100 villages , bridging innovation gaps between rural and urban regions. StartupTN’s 10 regional hubs will each develop rural entrepreneurship ecosystems in 10 villages , offering legal support, branding assistance, market validation, and CSR funding connections.

One venture from every identified village will receive a ?1 lakh equity-free TANSEED grant , enabling product development and early market entry. A centralised digital dashboard will track progress and help replicate successful models statewide.

With the programme’s first phase targeting at least 100 DPIIT-recognised rural startups , officials expect notable growth in local employment, innovation and sustainable economic development.
