The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced simplified rules for updating Aadhaar details, effective November 1, 2025 , to make the process faster, paperless, and more user-friendly. The new system allows most demographic updates — such as name, date of birth, gender, address, and mobile number — to be done online through the myAadhaar portal , reducing the need for in-person visits to Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs).
Simplified Online Updates
- Individuals can now log in to the myAadhaar portal using their registered mobile number to make demographic changes. The platform allows users to upload supporting documents digitally, with verification carried out automatically through UIDAI’s secure database. This shift aims to save time and minimize manual intervention, helping residents update their details conveniently from anywhere in the country.
Biometric Updates Still Require In-Person Visits
- While demographic updates have moved online, biometric updates — including fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs — will still require a physical visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra . This ensures the accuracy and security of biometric data, which remains crucial to the integrity of the Aadhaar system. UIDAI has confirmed that all Seva Kendras will continue to operate nationwide to assist individuals with these updates.
Revised Aadhaar Fee Structure
The UIDAI has also introduced a revised and transparent fee structure for Aadhaar updates:

PAN Linkage and Key Advisory
- UIDAI has urged all citizens to ensure their Aadhaar is linked with PAN by December 31, 2025 , as unlinked PAN cards may be deactivated, impacting financial and tax-related services. Users are advised to verify their linked mobile numbers, confirm address details, and retain their Update Request Number (URN) for tracking.
