The 8th Session of the Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH8) held in Guwahati finalized three new global standards for large cardamom, vanilla, and coriander .

With this, the total number of spice standards developed by CCSCH has reached 19 .
About the Session

The new standards will improve quality, safety, and uniformity in the global spice trade.

These standards are recommended for adoption by the Codex Alimentarius Commission .

India hosts the CCSCH, with the Spices Board of India acting as its Secretariat .

India, being a major producer and exporter of large cardamom and coriander , will benefit from harmonized global benchmarks that enhance export competitiveness .
