MMR in Kerala From 18 to 30 Key Factors Behind the Rise

According to the Sample Registration System (SRS) bulletin 2021-23, Kerala that had always had one of the best maternal health records has reported an increase in the maternal mortality ratio (MMR) between 18 and 30 per 100,000 live births. In spite of the growth, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh continue to have the lowest MMR in the Indian states. This shift is explained, in large part, by the influence of COVID-19-related maternal mortality or the demographic changes in the state.

Indian Army Major Flood Relief Operations 2025

Following disastrous floods in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir in August 2025, the Indian Army, Western Command has led the way in mass Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations. During one of the worst natural calamities of the season the Army responded with 82 relief operations that resulted in the evacuation of more than 6000 individuals and the provision of necessary supplies to isolated communities due to the rising waters.

India makes a huge stride in Literacy 2025

In 2025, India has made a landmark in literacy with the Ministry of Education marking International Literacy Day under the theme of promoting literacy in the digital era. Himachal Pradesh was also the fifth State/UT to achieve full functional literacy, after Tripura, Mizoram, Goa and Ladakh. This achievement is an indicator of how India has developed in terms of traditional and new definitions of literacy.

NCAP Cities Ranked in Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2025 Survey

Indian cities have been ranked in terms of their efforts to address air pollution in the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) as Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2025. This year of assessment as compared to previous surveys which primarily focused on the level of pollutants is focusing on the actual implementation of control measures against pollution sources.

Swachhotsav 2025 Campaign-Clean and Green Festive India

Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2025 campaign will be inaugurated on 17th September to 2 nd October 2025 by the Government of India and the theme is Swachhotsav. To combine the spirit of Indian festivals with the mission of cleanliness, the initiative, organized together by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Ministry of Jal Shakti intends to make sanitation a community celebration.
