K. G. George , a decorated hero of the 1965 India-Pakistan War and recipient of the Vir Chakra , passed away at the age of 95 in Kottayam . Born in February 1931 in Kerala , George later joined the Indian Army and served in the Corps of Signals. Bravery During the 1965 War

Between 6 and 10 September 1965 , he led his team in repairing and restoring damaged communication lines in the Wagah sector despite continuous enemy shelling and aerial attacks. On the night of 8–9 September , he risked his life to establish communication links between Brigade Headquarters and forward battalions during an intense enemy assault. His efforts ensured uninterrupted coordination among frontline troops at a critical moment in the conflict.
