Olympian Esha Singh claimed the gold medal in the women’s 10m air pistol individual event on the opening day of the Asian Rifle and Pistol Championship in New Delhi . Competing at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range , the 21-year-old showcased composure and resilience to reaffirm India’s strength in pistol shooting.


Comeback Performance in the Individual Final

Esha Singh produced a strong finish in the final, scoring 239.8 to secure her second individual senior Asian Championship gold medal . She finished ahead of Cheng Yen-Ching , who won silver with 235.4 , while Yu Ai-Wen claimed bronze with 217.7 .

After a tight start, Esha surged ahead in the later elimination rounds, displaying calm shot selection and mental control under pressure to seal the top spot.


Women’s Team Gold Adds to India’s Medal Count

India continued its dominance in the women’s team 10m air pistol event , clinching gold with a combined score of 1,726 . The victorious Indian trio comprised Esha Singh , Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker , and Suruchi Singh .

Vietnam finished second to take the silver medal, while Chinese Taipei secured bronze, rounding off a successful team performance for India on the opening day.

In the men’s individual 10m air pistol event, world champion Samrat Rana earned a bronze medal . Despite entering the final as a strong contender, he finished third in a closely fought contest, contributing further to India’s overall medal tally.
