Indian Navy New Patrol Vessel ‘Sanghmitra’ Launched at GRSE Kolkata

The Indian Navy recently launched its next generation offshore patrol vessel ‘Sanghmitra’ at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) in Kolkata. This ship is indigenously built. It is part of the Navy’s ambitious programme to build 11 such vessels at two shipyards. The vessel is named ‘Sanghmitra’, after the daughter of Emperor Ashoka. It has advanced surveillance and defence capabilities. The ship can also carry out search and rescue, anti-piracy missions, and humanitarian aid.

RBI Approves Record ₹2.86 Lakh Crore Dividend to Government for 2025-26

On 22 May 2026, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved a dividend of ₹2,86,588.46 crore for the Central Government. This is for the accounting year 2025-26. The amount is the largest surplus transfer in RBI’s history. It is 6.7% higher than the ₹2.69 lakh crore transferred in 2024-25. The decision was taken at the 623rd meeting of RBI’s Central Board of Directors in Mumbai. Governor Sanjay Malhotra chaired the meeting. This dividend will help the government manage its finances and reduce its fiscal deficit.
