The change came into effect through the Drugs (Fifth Amendment) Rules, 2026, after removing “syrups” from Schedule K of the Drugs Rules, 1945.

LRLACM: India’s New Precision Strike Cruise Missile Tested Successfully

Overview

India successfully tested the Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha. This subsonic, terrain-hugging missile can strike targets nearly 1,000 km away with a 450 kg warhead. Developed by DRDO’s Aeronautical Development Establishment, it enhances India’s precision strike capability.

INAS 330 ‘The Harpoons’ Decommissioned After 55 Years of Glorious Service

Overview

The Indian Naval Air Squadron 330, ‘The Harpoons’, was decommissioned on 14 June 2026 after 55 years of service. Commissioned on 17 April 1971, the squadron operated the Sea King Mk 42B helicopters. These were used for anti-submarine warfare, anti-ship missions, and search-and-rescue operations. The Sea King Bravo fleet retired after 36 years.

BHASHINI and GeM Join Hands: Now Government Buying and Selling in 22 Indian Languages

The Digital India BHASHINI Division and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) signed an MoU on 15 June 2026 to make public procurement multilingual. The BHASHINI platform will provide AI-powered translation, speech recognition, and voice tools in 22 official languages. This will help MSMEs, startups, and sellers across India use GeM in their own language.
