3,200-Year-Old Settlement Found in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag District

Overview

An archaeological site in Hazaribag district of Jharkhand has yielded evidence of a layered settlement in the Mohane river basin. The site is located in Chauparan block and includes villages like Dehar, Sohra, Mangarh, and Hathinder. Archaeologists have found artefacts dating back nearly 3,200 years. Using Ground Penetrating Radar, they have detected large buried structures over 100 feet long. The site has also produced statues of Buddhist and Hindu deities. A large mound in Mangarh village has been identified as an ancient Buddhist stupa. Historians are now calling for the Archaeological Survey of India to protect this important heritage.

China Chang’e-7 Mission to Hunt for Water Ice at Moon’s South Pole in 2026

China’s Chang’e-7 lunar exploration mission is scheduled for launch in the second half of 2026. The mission will study the Moon’s south pole through environmental and resource surveys. National Mission on Edible Oils -Oil Palm: How India Is Boosting Domestic Palm Oil Production

India launched the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) in 2021. It is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme with an outlay of Rs11,040 crore. The mission focuses on oil palm cultivation, crude palm oil (CPO) production, and improving edible oilseed availability in India. India imports about 60% of its edible oil needs. Palm oil alone accounts for 59% of total edible oil imports. The mission aims to reduce this dependence by expanding oil palm farming and increasing domestic CPO output.
