YUVIKA: Inspiration For Young Minds In Space Science
India's continued efforts towards promoting scientific temper amongst students are clearly seen in the form of the Yuva Vigyani Karyakram (YUVIKA). This programme was recently highlighted by the Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh in Parliament for its positive contributions in motivating school children towards space science and technology.
Objective and Target Audience
The programme, launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation, aims to foster an early interest in space sciences. As part of this programme, it encourages students of Class 9 across the nation to study the basics of space technology and research.
Selection Criteria and Equal Opportunities
The selection criteria for YUVIKA include both academic excellence and performance in an online quiz. Following the shortlisting of participants, there will be further document verification for final selection. In doing so, the programme ensures that students are selected fairly.
