Overview

However, the fitment factor, which decides the exact salary hike, has not been officially announced yet.
West Bengal Approves 7th Pay Commission
The West Bengal government has taken a major financial decision by approving the 7th Pay Commission for state employees and pensioners.
The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting led by Suvendu Adhikari.
The revised pay structure is expected to benefit:
- State government employees
- Pensioners
- Workers in state boards
- Employees of state corporations
- Staff of aided institutions
- Educational body employees
The move is seen as an important step to improve salaries and retirement benefits.
What Is a Fitment Factor?
The fitment factor is the most important part of any pay revision.
It is a multiplier used to calculate the revised basic salary from the current pay.
Simple Example
If the current basic salary is ₹20,000:
- At 2.0 fitment factor → New salary becomes ₹40,000
- At 2.25 fitment factor → New salary becomes ₹45,000
- At 2.5 fitment factor → New salary becomes ₹50,000
The higher the fitment factor, the bigger the salary increase.
During the earlier pay revision, West Bengal used a 2.57 fitment factor.
At present, discussions suggest a possible range between 2.0 and 2.5, but the government has not confirmed the final figure.
Estimated Salary Increase
Since the final multiplier is still pending, salary figures are only estimates.

Current basic pay: ₹17,000
