The Government of India has appointed Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan as the next Chief of the Naval Staff . He will take charge on 31 May 2026 , replacing Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi. He is currently heading the Western Naval Command in Mumbai. He has decades of experience in communication, electronic warfare, and naval operations.

Contribution to Naval Training and Safety
After becoming Rear Admiral , he served as Chief Staff Officer (Training) at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi. He also helped set up the Indian Naval Safety Team . This team checks safety across all naval ships and bases. His work has saved lives and prevented accidents.
