Traditional medicine will still be very important in the healthcare of the world in 2025. It is also strongly practised by 88% of the member states of the World Health Organization. Traditional medicine is often the main choice of healthcare as it is cheap and accessible to many billions of people, especially in the low- and middle-income countries. It promotes biodiversity, nutrition and livelihoods besides healthcare. The world market is performing well; its sales are projected to reach 583 billion growing 10 to 20 percent rate/year. There is the shift in areas such as China, Australia and India where major sectors are taken up by these countries demonstrating the movement of the world to preventive health care.
Landscape of Global Traditional Medicines.
The use of traditional medicine takes place in 170 out of 194 of the WHO member countries. Its popularity lies in the fact that it is familiar with the culture and affordability. The traditional Chinese medicine market of china amounts to $122.4 billion whereas the herbal medicine market of Australia amounted to 3.97 billion. The worth of India’s AYUSH sector goes to show that the industry is on the move towards more preventive models of handling health avoiding symptom treatment but rather handling the causes of a condition.

It is estimated with an established of more than 92,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises that in less than a decade, India has witnessed the AYUSH industry grow by almost eight folds. The manufacturing revenues increased at a position of Rs21697 crore to Rs1.37 lakh crore, whilst services generated earned Rs 1.67 lakh crore in 2014-15 and 2017-18, respectively. The total amount of AYUSH and herbal products being exported has climbed up to $1.54 billion to over 150 countries. Ayurveda, especially, has attained global recognition among others, already more than half of the population in India has used AYUSH systems in recent past. The level of awareness is good 95 percentably rural and 96 percent already urban.

India spends much on AYUSH research which gives interest in clinical trials, drug standardisation, and integrative care. The Ministry of AYUSH supports the efforts in collaborating with other countries at the international level through 25 bilateral agreements and 52 partnerships. The use of AI and big data is growing to justify and forecast the effects of treatment. The WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre in India seeks to bring together the traditional knowledge and modern science and technology.
