ISRO Conducts Vital Gaganyaan Parachute Test Successfully

On 24 August 2025, the Indian launch vehicle ISRO (ISRO) successfully conducted the first Integrated Air Drop Test (IADT-1), which was deemed to be a success to India Gaganyaan human spaceflight programme. The test confirmed the parachute system that was aimed to slow the crew capsule and land the astronauts back to Earth.

Arctic Sea Ice Melting Momentarily Leveling Off, But Acceleration Envisaged

Very recent studies have shown a strong deceleration of the Arctic sea ice loss rate in recent decades (since 1990). Scientists warn that this slowdown is short-term and is the result of a natural climate cycle and does not indicate a stoppage to longer term human-induced warming. It is estimated that the melting will again pick up speed even surpassing the past rates.

India Expands Food-Fortified Rice to Contend With Malnutrition

The government of India has deployed the full-scale distribution of fortified rice to its food safety Networks by March 2024 in a major push to address widespread anemia and micronutrient deficiencies. With a budgetary sanction of Rs 17,082 crore, this plan will last till December 2028.
