1. Scheme Overview

• Name: Scheme on Facilitating Accelerated Payout - Inoperative Accounts and Unclaimed Deposits.
• Introduced by: the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
• Purpose: This is to persuade banks to reactivate dormant accounts as well as settle unclaimed deposits, which will minimise the sum that will be transferred to Depositor Education and Awareness (DEA) Fund.
• Term: A 1 year plan between October 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026.

• Historic Participation Indian Air Force (IAF) is the first non-NATO member when it comes to Exercise Ocean Sky 2025, which will occur in Gando Air Base, Spain, between October 20 and 31, 2025.

• Deployment: South Korea is scheduled to launch Hyunmoo 5 ballistic missile by end 2025, which will increase the conventional deterrence towards North Korea.

• Death: Queen Mother Sirikit, widow of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, died in Bangkok, at 93, after having been fighting a blood infection since 17 October 2025, which was confirmed by the Royal Household Bureau.
• Legacy: She is revered as the Mother of the Nation of Thailand and because of her the birthday of 12 August is called Mother’s Day.

• Sanctions Imposed: On 24 October 2025, the U.S. Treasury Department, in an Executive order 14059, sanctioned Colombian President Gustavo Petro, his first lady, Veronica Alcocer Garcias, their son, Nicolas Petro Burgos and Interior Minister Armando Benedetti.
• Scope: Seals American assets of listed ones and prohibits American parties to conduct any transactions with them.
