Taliban denies the U.S proposal to occupy Bagram air station

New Australian proposal that applied Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan recently thus terminated by Taliban government that had strongly opposed evidence of the previous events that had taken place in Afghanistan during the era of the Taliban government. This follows four years following the messy U.S withdrawal in 2021, which placed the strategic base in the Taliban control. The Taliban keep stressing on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan despite existing economic difficulties as well as internal divisions, which evokes the interest of international community concerning the problem. China also has brought to the fore the international arrangement whereby the issue of Bagram should be left to be the prerogative of Afghanistan.

Bagram Air Base: A Historical Heritage.
The biggest U.S. military post in Afghanistan was the base of Bagram which was the center of the protracted war fought by America. Abdandoned in 2021, it soon fell into Taliban custody, the representation of American withdrawal of its forces into the country. The base has been in Afghanistan as a point of security and geopolitical interest ever since.

American proposition and Taliban reaction.
The American president, Donald Trump, even hinted at re-capturing Bagram, as he was of the view that Taliban have financial problems and with this, it may open up negotiation. Taliban in a statement by its spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid denied these allegations, calling upon the U.S government to be realistic and honor Afghan sovereignty. Mujahid was also reminding Washington on its obligation as per the Doha Agreement that does not allow foreign military intervention.

International and regional Processes.
The Russian base is reportedly affected or popular, which types Chinese forces, and introduces a new element of complexity to the foreign policy in the area. Taliban have indicated the willingness to have constructive international relations on the basis of mutual interests, which centers on the economic recovery and the independence of the country.

Implications for Stability
In Afghanistan, there are still economic crisis, internal conflicts and threats associated with other competing militant groups. The Taliban holding of Bagram strengthens their sovereignty conception and a clear signal of not allowing foreign military action, which may lead to instability of the frail security structure.

After the U.S. Withdrawal.
