Twenty-year-old Yash Anil Rashiya has emerged as one of India’s most promising young sports talents after playing a decisive role in India’s gold-medal victory at the 7th Roll Ball World Cup . Representing Team India in Dubai, Rashiya’s performance not only powered the national team to the title but also brought international recognition to Surat as a growing hub for non-traditional sports.
Match-Winning Contributions Throughout the Tournament
Selected among 12 elite players for the Indian squad, Rashiya delivered under pressure at every stage of the competition. In the league phase, he scored two goals each against Saudi Arabia and Brazil. His impact deepened in the knockouts—netting two crucial goals against Pakistan in the quarter-final, adding a vital goal in the semi-final against Egypt, and scoring the match-winning goal in the final against Kenya. These decisive contributions underlined his composure, consistency, and attacking instinct on the world stage.
From Skating Rinks to World Cup Podium
Rashiya’s sporting journey began in 2009 as a skater. In 2017, under the mentorship of coach Jaimin Bharat Patel , he transitioned to Roll Ball—a fast-paced sport blending skating, handball, and basketball skills. His rapid rise was evident when, within six months of switching sports, he represented Gujarat at the Sub-Junior National Roll Ball Championship in Panjim, Goa.
Strong Domestic Record and Competitive Depth
Over the years, Rashiya has represented Gujarat at multiple Senior National Roll Ball Championships, including the 19th to 22nd editions. He has competed across 18 states and participated in 17 national-level tournaments. His medal tally includes gold at the All India University Roll Ball Championship and silver medals at the 22nd Senior National Championship in Indore (2025) and the 5th Roll Ball Federation Cup in Jharkhand (2025), reflecting sustained excellence at the national level.
