Indian Skater Shrishti Sharma Breaks Record with 7.46-Second Limbo Skate
Indian roller skater Shrishti Dharmendra Sharma has set a new Guinness World Record in limbo skating by achieving the fastest time to skate under descending poles over 50 metres . Her performance showcased remarkable flexibility, balance and speed, drawing attention to India’s growing achievements in specialised sporting disciplines.
Record-Breaking Attempt in Maharashtra
Shrishti Sharma completed the 50-metre limbo skating challenge in 7.46 seconds , setting a new global record. The attempt was conducted on 28 February 2025 at Sai Dham City in Umbred Maharashtra.
During the attempt, she skated rapidly beneath a sequence of horizontal poles arranged at progressively lower heights. Maintaining extreme body flexibility while gliding at high speed required exceptional precision and control to avoid touching the rods.
Improvement Over Her Previous Record
This achievement improved upon Sharma’s earlier Guinness record established in 2023 on the television programme Lo Show Dei Record in Monza. In that earlier performance, she completed the same challenge in 9.59 seconds .
By reducing her time by 2.13 seconds , Sharma significantly raised the benchmark in limbo skating and demonstrated the results of sustained training and technical refinement.
What is Limbo Skating?
Limbo skating is a specialised form of roller skating in which athletes glide under low horizontal bars while bending their bodies extremely close to the ground. The discipline combines elements of flexibility, agility and speed.
Unlike the traditional limbo dance performed while walking, limbo skating requires athletes to maintain balance on roller skates while their body remains almost parallel to the floor. This makes the sport one of the most physically demanding variations of roller skating.
