His talent earned him admission to the prestigious Sir JJ School of Art and Architecture, Mumbai , where he graduated as a gold medallist . This classical training combined with technical precision became the hallmark of his long career spanning over seven decades.

Ram Sutar’s work occupies prominent spaces in India’s political and cultural landscape. He sculpted the seated statue of Mahatma Gandhi and the equestrian statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj installed in the Parliament complex.
