Bhadrakali Temple Website Launched at Itkhori Mahotsav
The three-day Rajkiya Itkhori Mahotsav commenced in Jharkhand’s Chatra district on Thursday, marking the start of the region’s prominent cultural and spiritual celebration. The festival was inaugurated by Jharkhand Finance Minister Radha Krishana Kishore , accompanied by Excise Minister Yogendra Prasad and Chatra MP Kalicharan Singh .
Inaugural Highlights
The opening ceremony featured two key initiatives aimed at strengthening religious tourism. The ministers jointly launched the official website of the Bhadrakali Temple, Itkhori , enhancing digital accessibility for pilgrims and visitors. A coffee table book documenting the temple’s historical, architectural, and spiritual importance was also unveiled.
Leaders stressed the dual role of cultural festivals in safeguarding traditions and driving local economic development. They highlighted tourism promotion, infrastructure growth, and employment generation as core benefits of such events.
Cultural Showcase on Day One
The first day witnessed lively performances by regional artists, including traditional folk dances and musical presentations reflecting Jharkhand’s indigenous heritage. Large crowds gathered to witness the cultural programmes, which set the tone for the remaining days.
Organisers have scheduled spiritual sessions, exhibitions, handicraft displays, and tourism-focused activities. Local artisans and self-help groups are participating through craft stalls and regional food counters.
Religious and Historical Context
Itkhori is widely recognised for its syncretic religious legacy. The Bhadrakali Temple is associated with Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain traditions, supported by archaeological findings that indicate ancient religious activity. The state government has increasingly promoted Itkhori as a spiritual tourism destination through heritage conservation and infrastructure upgrades.
