President Murmu Launches ‘Karmayoga for Empowered Bharat’ Campaign

Value-Based Development Highlighted at Brahma Kumaris Conference

President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated an All-India Conference and launched the nationwide campaign ‘Karmayoga for Empowered Bharat’ organised by the Brahma Kumaris in New Delhi on February 13, 2026. She also commenced the silver jubilee celebrations of the Om Shanti Retreat Centre, Gurugram , marking 25 years of its establishment.

Addressing the gathering, the President underscored the importance of harmonising ethical values with economic and technological progress.

Development Beyond Material Growth

The President acknowledged that economic expansion drives prosperity, while technological innovation enhances productivity and efficiency. Together, they constitute essential pillars of national development. However, she cautioned that growth lacking ethical foundations can generate systemic imbalances.

Unchecked economic progress, she noted, may lead to wealth concentration , environmental stress and social inequities. Similarly, technological advancement without moral safeguards could amplify risks to human well-being.

Spirituality as a Guiding Framework

Highlighting the philosophical basis of Karmayoga , the President described spirituality as a moral compass promoting integrity, compassion, non-violence and service. These principles, she stated, are critical for building equitable and inclusive institutions.

Leadership grounded in ethical consciousness, she observed, is better positioned to deliver fair governance, thereby strengthening public trust and societal stability.

Rajayoga and Active Ethical Living

Referring to the teachings of Rajayoga meditation propagated by the Brahma Kumaris, the President emphasised that spirituality extends beyond contemplation. Karmayoga , she explained, involves applying higher ideals while performing everyday duties with responsibility and selflessness.

She expressed appreciation that millions associated with the organisation embody these values in public and professional life.
