    After a historic election victory, the  BJP‑led government  under Chief Minister  Suvendu Adhikari  has officially begun its first full week in office. The cabinet is a thoughtful blend of seasoned leaders and fresh grassroots faces – including  Dilip Ghosh  and  Agnimitra Paul , who currently stands as the  only woman minister  in the council. A small but significant step for representation.

  • Heatwave Tightens Grip Across North & West India
    The  India Meteorological Department (IMD)  warns that severe heatwave conditions continue to bake large parts of northern and western India.  Rajasthan  remains one of the hottest places in the country, with mercury soaring past  43°C . Meanwhile, parts of  eastern Uttar Pradesh  may get some relief with  scattered rainfall  expected later tonight – a welcome break from the sweltering heat.

  • US‑Iran Tensions Escalate Over Nuclear Stance
    U.S. President Donald Trump  has firmly rejected Tehran’s latest peace proposal concerning the  Strait of Hormuz blockade . In a characteristically blunt statement, he said preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon is his  absolute priority  – and concerns about American inflation or rising fuel prices will “not even a little bit” push him into accepting an unfavourable deal.

  • EU’s New AI Transparency Rules Take Shape
    The  European Commission  has launched a public consultation on its draft guidelines for  AI transparency  under the landmark  AI Act . Starting  August 2, 2026 , digital platforms and AI providers in the EU will be legally required to add  machine‑readable marks  to AI‑generated content. They must also clearly notify users when they are interacting with an AI system or viewing deepfakes – a big leap toward responsible AI.

  • Gujarat Titans Dominate Sunrisers Hyderabad in One‑Sided Affair
    In Ahmedabad, the  Gujarat Titans (GT)  produced a clinical performance, thrashing the  Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 82 runs  and reclaiming the top spot on the points table.
