On 17 May 2026, Kami Rita Sherpa climbed Mount Everest for the 32nd time. He is 56 years old. He reached the summit at 10:12 a.m. Nepal time. He used the Southeast Ridge route. The Nepal government confirmed his achievement. This is a new world record. No one else has climbed Everest so many times.
The Climb
Kami Rita was part of an expedition led by 14 Peaks Expedition . He started from the Nepal side. The Southeast Ridge route is the standard path to the top. It goes through the South Col before the final climb. Nepal’s Department of Tourism office at Everest Base Camp issued a formal statement confirming the summit.
Who Is Kami Rita Sherpa?
Kami Rita was born on 17 January 1970 in Thame, Solukhumbu, Nepal . He first reached the top of Everest in 1994 . He was 24 years old then. Before this 32nd climb, he completed his 31st summit on 27 May 2025 . He also holds the record for the most 8,000-metre mountain summits . He has climbed peaks above 8,000 metres more than 40 times.
