NIFTEM-K to Host ANVESH–2026 on Sustainable and Healthy Foods

Global Food Innovation Conference ANVESH–2026 Begins at NIFTEM-K

The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Kundli (NIFTEM-K) , an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) , will organise the International Conference on Advanced Next Generation Vision for Emerging and Sustainable Healthy Foods (ANVESH–2026) from 26 to 28 February 2026 . The three-day global meet is expected to attract over 1,000 delegates from more than 25 countries , including researchers, industry leaders, startups and policymakers.

Senior officials from MoFPI have stated that the conference will act as a knowledge platform to align innovation, nutrition and sustainability across food systems, supporting India’s ambition to emerge as a global food processing hub.

Strengthening Food Processing in India

India has invested nearly ₹15,000 crore in the food processing sector over the past four to five years. At present, only 12–13% of agricultural produce undergoes processing. The government has set a target to raise this share to 25% within five years , improving value addition, farmer income and export competitiveness.

Despite its largely unorganised structure, the sector has recorded a 7% CAGR over the last decade. Processed food exports have doubled, indicating rising international demand for Indian food products.

Technology, Packaging and Waste Reduction

A central theme of ANVESH–2026 is the role of advanced processing and scientific packaging in reducing losses. Post-harvest losses of about ₹1.10 lakh crore annually can be mitigated through modern preservation, cold-chain integration and shelf-life enhancement technologies. The conference also promotes the idea of “Food as Medicine” , linking nutrition with preventive healthcare.

Global Participation and Key Themes

Experts from leading global institutions will join Indian stakeholders for plenaries, exhibitions and live demonstrations. Focus areas include alternative proteins, nutraceuticals, digital traceability, food safety, waste management, circular economy models and agri-food entrepreneurship.
