Artificial intelligence Policy 2026 has been passed by the Maharashtra Cabinet. The policy will invest 10,000 crore to develop an effective AI ecosystem. The idea is straightforward: enhance the innovation, generate employment, and transform Maharashtra into an AI powerhouse in India.

Concentrate on Jobs and Economic Growth.

The policy will generate 1.5 lakh jobs in AI-related fields.Ashish Shelar mentioned that creation of employment is one of the priorities. The policy connects technology with the economic growth and seeks to broaden opportunities in industries.

Innovation Cities and AI Excellence Centres.

The government will establish:

6 AI Excellence Centres
5 AI Innovation Cities

These centres will be based on:

Research and development
Skill training
Startup support
Industry collaboration

The digital economy will be enhanced and investment will be drawn to the innovation cities.

Establishing a Good Computing Infrastructure.

The policy involves development of sophisticated computer systems. The state will offer 2,000 GPUs to assist:

AI model development
Large-scale data processing
Advanced digital services

The infrastructure is critical to quality AI research and applications.

The MSMEs and Skill Development.

Small businesses and youth are highly supported by the policy.

Financial assistance to 5,000 MSMEs to implement AI will be provided.
The number of youth trained in AI will be 2 lakh .
