MLATrack.com: New Platform for Legislative Transparency in Kerala
A new digital platform, MLATrack.com, has been launched to provide structured insights into the functioning of Members of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, enhancing transparency and citizen engagement.
Key Features of the Platform
The portal offers comprehensive profiles of all 140 MLAs, including personal details, constituency maps and visual analytics on attendance, questions and debates. It provides date-wise tracking of legislative activities such as submissions, calling attention motions and adjournment motions. Users can also access questions raised by legislators along with direct links to official responses.
Data Sources and Accessibility
The platform is developed by Atyeti Research in collaboration with Sahya Digital Conservation Foundation. It uses publicly available datasets from official Assembly records and related portals. Designed for ease of use, it enables citizens, researchers and media professionals to analyse legislative functioning without subjective rankings or bias.
Insights into Legislative Activity
Data compiled on the platform shows that over 68,000 questions were raised during Assembly sessions between 2021 and 2026. Many MLAs recorded high participation levels, with several asking more than 1,000 questions and 45 members maintaining attendance above 95%. Active engagement is also reflected in debates, private member bills and policy discussions.
Significance for Governance
The initiative strengthens data-driven governance by making legislative information easily accessible and verifiable. By presenting factual data without evaluation, it promotes accountability, informed public discourse and greater awareness of democratic processes at the state level.
