Lucas Pinheiro Braathen etched his name into sporting history by securing Brazil’s first-ever Winter Olympic medal with a gold in the giant slalom. Competing under the Brazilian flag after switching allegiance from Norway, the 25-year-old delivered a commanding performance on the demanding Stelvio piste in Bormio.

Born in Oslo to a Norwegian father and Brazilian mother, Braathen had earlier built a successful World Cup career representing Norway, earning multiple podium finishes.
