- The annual Life Certificate submission process for pensioners has begun, with the standard window from November 1 to November 30, 2025 , and an early submission option from October 1 for those aged 80 years and above . Pensioners must submit the certificate to continue receiving their pension without interruption.
- The government’s Jeevan Pramaan system, an Aadhaar-based biometric platform , enables pensioners to generate a Digital Life Certificate (DLC) without visiting banks or offices. Using fingerprint or iris authentication , pensioners can verify their identity and have their certificates automatically shared with the Pension Disbursing Agency (PDA) .
- To generate the certificate online, users must register a biometric device on the Jeevan Pramaan portal using their Aadhaar number and mobile OTP , enter details such as PPO number, pension type, and bank account , and complete biometric verification. Once successful, an SMS acknowledgment with a Jeevan Pramaan ID is issued, and the certificate is stored electronically.
Certificates can be submitted through multiple channels:
-
Online: via the Jeevan Pramaan portal or UMANG app
-
Offline: at bank branches or Citizen Service Centres (CSCs)
-
Doorstep service: through India Post Payments Bank (IPPB)
All central, state, defence, and private sector pensioners must submit the certificate annually. An Aadhaar number or Virtual ID is mandatory for authentication. The Digital Life Certificate is legally valid under the Information Technology Act , offering a secure, paperless, and convenient verification method for pensioners across India.
