Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 Begins December 2: Strengthening Civilisational Unity

The fourth edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS) 2025 is set to begin on 2 December , reaffirming the spiritual and cultural bridge between Tamil Nadu and Kashi (Varanasi). Organised by the Ministry of Education , the event celebrates India’s continuous civilisational exchange, anchored in the national vision of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat . The programme focuses on language learning, heritage exploration and knowledge linkage across regions.

Cultural & Academic Integration at a Larger Scale

KTS 4.0 is jointly coordinated by IIT Madras and Banaras Hindu University , in partnership with multiple Union ministries and the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The Sangamam, which began in 2022, has steadily expanded its scope, drawing scholars, youth groups, artisanal communities and spiritual institutions into a single heritage platform.

This year’s theme, "Learn Tamil – Tamil Karkalam" , highlights the push to encourage Tamil language acquisition beyond the southern states. The event will witness participation of over 1,400 delegates , including educators, students, women leaders, professionals, farmers and temple priests. They will spend eight days touring Varanasi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya, attending cultural exhibitions, language workshops and craft interactions.

Historic Trail Through Kashi’s Tamil Heritage

Delegates will visit key Tamil-linked heritage sites such as the ancestral home of Subramania Bharati , Kedar Ghat , Kasi Madam , Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Mata Annapurna Temple . Academic dialogues hosted at BHU’s Tamil Department will strengthen research collaboration and linguistic appreciation.
