India delivered an impressive performance at the World Boxing Futures Cup 2026 held in Bangkok , finishing the competition with five medals —one gold, three silver and one bronze. The tournament, conducted from 8 to 15 March 2026 , featured promising young athletes competing in Youth Olympic weight categories. India’s Under-19 men’s and women’s squads displayed strong performances, reflecting the growing strength of the country’s youth boxing development programme.


Chandrika Pujari Wins India’s Gold

The highlight of India’s campaign came from Chandrika Pujari , who secured the gold medal in the women’s 51 kg category . In the final bout, she defeated Mardonova Nazokat of Uzbekistan through a unanimous decision. Her performance was marked by effective ring control, strong defence and precise punching combinations, demonstrating the depth of talent emerging in Indian women’s boxing.


Three Silver Medals for India

India added three silver medals across different weight categories. Gunjan finished second in the women’s 48 kg category after losing the final to an opponent from England by a 5-0 decision .

In the women’s 54 kg division , Joyshree Devi secured silver after a closely fought contest against a competitor from the United States , losing 4-1 . Meanwhile, L. Ambekar Meetei finished with silver in the men’s 50 kg category following a final defeat to a boxer from Ukraine .


Bronze Medal Achievement

India’s final medal came through Radhamani Longjam , who won bronze in the women’s 57 kg category . She reached the semifinals before losing a competitive bout to Yevanhelina Petruk of Ukraine . Her performance contributed to India’s overall medal tally and showcased the depth of talent within the national youth boxing system.
