Pax Silica Declaration Strengthens India–US Tech Cooperation

India formally became part of the US-led Pax Silica strategic alliance after signing the Pax Silica Declaration in the presence of Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and US Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg . The development marks a notable expansion of India–US collaboration across critical minerals, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence (AI).

US envoy Sergio Gor characterised India’s inclusion as strategically significant, emphasising the alliance’s role in shaping future global economic and technological frameworks. Established in December 2025, Pax Silica focuses on securing AI and semiconductor supply chains while promoting technological resilience among partner nations.

Strengthening AI and Semiconductor Networks

The Pax Silica Declaration prioritises the creation of secure, diversified, and innovation-driven supply chains. It underscores the importance of dependable sourcing of raw materials and advanced manufacturing capabilities to ensure economic and technological security.

India’s participation enhances the alliance through its expanding semiconductor ecosystem and deep engineering talent base. Reports indicate that multiple semiconductor fabrication and assembly facilities are under development, with initial production expected in the near future.
