India and Brazil have made a big leap into building their agricultural relationship as the second version of the Brazil-India Cross-Incubation Programme in Agritech known as Maitri 2.0 was launched. This initiative that was unveiled in New Delhi under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will participate in the encouragement of innovation, co-creation and sustainable solution in the agribusiness world. It indicates the long-term cooperation between the two states that are over 77 years.
An Agricultural history Legacy.
India and Brazil have enjoyed a close agricultural relationship overtime coming together on international forums such as BRICS and G20. This cooperation has been reinforced by a recent MoU between ICAR and EMBRAPA, the first agricultural research organization in Brazil. Their combined attention is all through the entire agri-food value chain namely research and technology to real solutions to farmers.
Rising Innovation power of ICAR.
ICAR has become a pioneer of agriculture. Unlike its production of only 74 patents in 1996, it produces over 1,800 patents every year. This phenomenal expansion is anchored by more than 100 incubation centres and 5,000 plus licensing agreements and thus innovations come fast to farmers. The objective is straightforward: to increase farm output and at the same time make it sustainable.
Maitri 2.0 A Platform of shared Growth.
The development of Maitri 2.0 is based on this advancement, which introduces a two-way learning platform. It enhances incubator networks, co-incubation, and sharing of the best practices between Indian and Brazilian agritech startups. Topics of interest are the digital agriculture field, value-chain development, climate resiliency, and food security-urgent challenges in the two countries.
Attracting Investment and Increasing Farmers.
There are more than 400 agri-startups that are already being supported by the agritech ecosystem in India, enabling the young innovators to transform their ideas into businesses. Various startups of both nations will now collaborate through Maitri 2.0, introducing new technologies to the sphere. This will not only empower farmers but it will also create stronger food systems.
Looking Ahead
The India Brazil agritech partnership is not just a bilateral project- it is an international agritech prototype of sustainable farming. Through integration of research, innovation and entrepreneurship, Maitri 2.0 will enhance food and nutrition security, as well as challenges such as climate change and the international hunger issues.
