Kochi to Host International Spice Conference 2026, Spotlighting Future-Ready Global Spice Economy

The coastal city of Kochi is set to host the 9th International Spice Conference (ISC 2026) from February 23 to 26 , reaffirming India’s central role in shaping global conversations on the spice economy. Organised by the All India Spices Exporters Forum (AISEF) , the four-day conference will bring together policymakers, exporters, researchers, startups and industry leaders from across the world.

Global Platform for Spice Sector Collaboration

ISC 2026 will be organised around the theme “Spice 360 – Getting Future Ready” , signalling the need for a comprehensive, end-to-end approach to growth. The discussions will address challenges such as climate variability, shifting trade regimes, sustainability standards, traceability requirements and changing consumer preferences. Over successive editions, the conference has evolved into a globally respected forum linking farmers, processors, exporters and international buyers.


Leadership Voices and Keynote Perspectives

The conference will be inaugurated by Amitabh Kant , former G20 Sherpa and ex-CEO of NITI Aayog, who will deliver the keynote address on “Transforming Agro-Industry: Innovation, Inclusion & Global Leadership.”
Martin Sonntag, Chief Executive Officer of Oterra, will participate as Guest of Honour and is expected to speak on collaboration-driven growth in food systems, focusing on responsibility, trust and nutrition-led innovation.

AISEF Chairperson Emmanuel Nambusseril highlighted the symbolic importance of hosting ISC 2026 in Kerala, a region historically connected to global spice routes for centuries. With growing uncertainty in global trade, the conference aims to reframe strategies around resilience, diversification and sustainability. AISEF Vice Chairperson Nishesh Shah added that the theme reflects the sector’s shared responsibility to anticipate future risks while capitalising on emerging opportunities.

These sessions are expected to support evidence-based decision-making across the global spice value chain.
