Him-CONNECT Showcases Himalayan Innovations at WSDS 2026

MoEFCC Launches Him-CONNECT to Scale NMHS Technologies

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) is organising Him-CONNECT during TERI’s World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) 2026 , scheduled from 25 to 27 February 2026 in New Delhi. The platform is designed to connect researchers from the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) with start-ups, investors and policymakers, enabling large-scale deployment of scientific solutions. The exhibition will be open to visitors on 26 and 27 February .

Him-CONNECT features more than 24 technologies, prototypes, patents and pilot projects supported under the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS) , reflecting a decade of research-driven innovation.

Bridging Innovation and Market Deployment

The initiative addresses a persistent challenge in public research ecosystems — the gap between laboratory innovation and real-world implementation. While NMHS has generated numerous locally adapted solutions, scaling often requires investment, incubation and policy alignment.

Him-CONNECT provides a collaborative interface linking innovators with over 100 start-ups, incubators, venture partners and policymakers , facilitating funding access, commercial partnerships and pilot deployment.

Institutions and Technologies on Display

Researchers from premier institutions including IITs, CSIR laboratories, Central Agricultural University, NITs, SKUAST-K, University of Kashmir, TERI-Guwahati, Kumaon University and the G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment are participating.

Highlighted innovations include eco-friendly road construction techniques , hydroponic cultivation using treated wastewater , pine needle-based wastewater treatment systems , decentralised water reuse models , low-cost mineralised water purifiers , sericulture waste-derived burn ointments , and yak milk value-addition technologies .

Focus on Climate Resilience and Green Growth

The showcased solutions target core Himalayan challenges — water security, climate adaptation, renewable energy integration, waste-to-wealth systems and sustainable livelihoods. The emphasis is on field-validated and market-ready technologies capable of strengthening ecological stability and rural economies.
