Overview
Haryana has launched a new app called ShramMitra. It is a free digital platform. It connects workers and employers directly through smartphones. The app aims to replace the old labour chowk system. Labour chowks are places where daily wage workers gather in public areas hoping to get hired. The new app makes hiring faster, simpler, and more transparent. Labour Minister Anil Vij introduced it. The app is available in Hindi, English, and Punjabi.
Haryana Launches ShramMitra App for Workers and Employers
The Haryana government has officially launched the ShramMitra mobile application. This is a digital step to make worker hiring faster and more transparent. The app was developed by the Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. According to Labour Minister Anil Vij, this platform will create a direct link between employers and workers. It will reduce delays, confusion, and dependence on informal hiring networks. This initiative is being seen as a major labour market reform.
What Is the ShramMitra App?
ShramMitra works like an Electronic Employment Exchange for daily wage, skilled, and self‑employed workers. Instead of waiting at labour chowks for work, workers can now search for jobs from their phones. The platform allows digital job matching between employers and job seekers. Over time, it could replace Haryana’s traditional labour chowk system.
Key Features of the ShramMitra App
The app has many useful features:
-
Multilingual Access – The app is available in Hindi, English, and Punjabi. This helps more workers use it.
-
Worker Skill Registration – Workers can create profiles with details like skills, experience, and work category. Supported professions include mason, carpenter, electrician, plumber, gardener, painter, welder, barber, cobbler, and other skilled or self‑employed roles.
-
Employer Job Posting – Employers can post their work requirements directly on the app. This helps them find suitable workers faster.
-
Direct Negotiation Tools – The platform allows discussions on wages, work duration, experience requirements, and job conditions. This makes hiring clear and fair.
How Many Workers Are Already Registered?
The Haryana Labour Department has already uploaded data of about 75,000 registered workers onto the platform. To help more workers join, labour department teams will visit labour chowks across the state. They will help workers install and use the app. This is very important because many daily wage workers may not be comfortable with digital tools.
Coverage Across Haryana
The government says the app will be available statewide. It will work on both Android and Apple (iOS) phones. The app is completely free for both workers and employers.
