Gujarat Rolls Out Mukhyamantri Gramotthan Yojana for Rural Transformation

Gujarat has unveiled an ambitious rural development initiative aimed at delivering urban-level infrastructure and services in villages , reinforcing the state’s commitment to balanced and inclusive growth. The Mukhyamantri Gramotthan Yojana seeks to narrow the rural–urban divide by upgrading public amenities, governance systems, and connectivity in strategically important rural centres.

Statewide Launch from Anand District

The programme was launched by Bhupendra Patel from Bhadran in Anand district . The initiative positions selected villages as growth hubs , with infrastructure comparable to urban areas, aimed at improving living standards and unlocking local economic potential.

Phase I: Upgrading Taluka Headquarters

In its first phase, the scheme targets 114 villages that serve as Taluka headquarters . Planned upgrades include:

• High-quality road networks

• Underground drainage and improved sanitation

• Solar-powered street lighting for energy efficiency

• Enhanced e-Gram services to strengthen digital governance

Together, these measures are designed to improve mobility, public health, energy sustainability, and access to citizen services.

Strengthening Grassroots Governance

To bolster local administration, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for 2,666 Gram Panchayat Ghar-cum-Talati Awas buildings, with an outlay of ₹663 crore . These facilities will provide dedicated infrastructure for Panchayat offices and residential accommodation for field officials, improving service delivery at the village level.
