New Two-Lane Bridge to Boost Connectivity in Sattari

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant laid the foundation stone for the Davem–Sanvordem bridge in Goa , signalling a key infrastructure upgrade in Sattari taluka. The Rs 29.9 crore project aims to replace the existing single-lane bridge, which has long posed challenges for traffic movement and commuter safety.

Project Scope and Implementation

The proposed two-lane bridge will connect Davem and Sanvordem villages, improving vehicular flow and pedestrian mobility. Construction will be undertaken by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) on behalf of the Public Works Department (PWD).

The design incorporates footpaths on both sides, prioritising pedestrian safety. The project also includes development of approach roads to facilitate smoother traffic transitions and enhance accessibility.

Connectivity and Mobility Benefits

According to official statements, the new bridge is expected to shorten travel distances by approximately 7–8 kilometres for commuters travelling towards Ponda and South Goa. The infrastructure upgrade will also enable motorists to bypass traffic congestion in Valpoi market.

Reduced travel time and fuel savings are anticipated benefits for daily commuters, students, traders, and transport operators.
