The Global Passport Index 2025 has reaffirmed shifting patterns in global mobility, with Asian countries continuing to dominate the top positions. Passport strength is measured by the number of destinations that citizens can enter visa-free or with visa-on-arrival , reflecting diplomatic partnerships, economic stability and international trust.

Asia Leads the Global Mobility Landscape

For 2025, Singapore retains its position as the world’s strongest passport, offering access to 193 destinations . Its extensive mobility privileges stem from stable global relations and economic partnerships. South Korea secures the second rank with entry access to 190 destinations , followed by Japan , whose citizens can travel to 189 destinations without major restrictions.

European Countries Maintain Strong Presence

Europe continues to dominate the upper tiers of the ranking. Thirteen European nations , including France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland, jointly hold the fourth rank , offering travel to 187 destinations . Their mobility strength reflects long-standing regional agreements, Schengen access and robust diplomatic outreach.

High-Mobility Tier Nations

Countries such as Austria, Greece, Norway, Sweden and Portugal provide access to 186 destinations , placing them in the next mobility bracket. Nations including New Zealand, Poland, Hungary, Malta, Slovakia and Slovenia follow closely with 185 destinations , showing consistent alignment with global travel networks.

Broader Global Connectivity

Further down the rankings, Australia, the UAE, the UK, Czechia, Croatia and Estonia secure access to 184 destinations , placing them jointly in the seventh tier. Canada and Latvia hold the eighth spot with access to 183 destinations , while Lithuania and Liechtenstein follow with 182 .
