Dr. Ambedkar’s death is observed under this term as a reflection of his deep spiritual transformation following his conversion to Buddhism on 14 October 1956 , an act that inspired a nationwide socio-spiritual movement.
Ambedkar’s Reformist Journey
Born on 14 April 1891 , Dr. Ambedkar overcame systemic caste discrimination to become one of India’s most educated and influential leaders. His academic journey spanned Columbia University , the London School of Economics , and the Gray’s Inn . He led transformative social movements such as the Mahad Satyagraha , founded organisations like the Scheduled Castes Federation , and shaped labour, economic and political reforms.
