This is a bold move by the Delhi High Court in ensuring that the right of the Bollywood famous is not violated by unauthorized usage of their image. In the recent past, actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and filmmaker Karan Johar have sought protection in court to stop the use of their names, images, and voices to make AI-generated content and commercial merchandise. This is indicative of an increasing judicial awareness of personality rights, in the wake of new technologies, where creativity and exploitation begin to mingle.

Solid Waste Management Reforms 2025 in India The Hurdles and the Way Forward

25 Years of Waste management Regulations.

It is 25 years since India made its first Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Management Rules in 2000. Regulatory framework has improved over the years with the 2016 Solid Waste Management Rules and other regulations on plastics, e-waste, biomedical, hazardous, and construction waste. In spite of such reforms, garbage management remains a severe issue in the cities of the country. The new 2025 draft SWM Rules are offering new provisions such as four-way source segregation and computer surveillance, although systemic vulnerabilities are an issue.

The Government of India has sanctioned the Capacity Building and Human Resource Development (CBHRD) scheme, with an outlay of Rs 2277.397 crore in the Fifteenth Finance Commission (2021-22 to 2025-26), in a massive effort towards the promotion of science and innovation. The initiative, which is being implemented by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), aims at enhancing the research ecosystem in India and developing the generation of scientists in the future.
