India has released three new joint military doctrines to improve synergy between Army, Navy and Air Force. These include Special Forces (SF) operations, airborne and heliborne operations, and multi-domain operations, an important step towards integrated theatre commands and modernised combat readiness.

Bhutan's 1020 MW Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project has been fully commissioned with the synchronization of its last 170 MW unit in August 2025. This would increase Bhutan's installed power capacity by almost 40%, which is a significant step in India-Bhutan clean energy cooperation and regional energy security.

India has sent more than 700 Armed Forces personnel to participate in Exercise Bright Star 2025, which is being hosted by Egypt from August 28 to September 10. This is the 19th edition of the drill and one of the largest multinational military exercises in the Middle East and North Africa. A total of 43 countries are participating, including 13 sending troops and 30 observers, making this a clear example of India's emerging presence in the area of global defence cooperation.

Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD) has initiated the Revised National Action Plan on Glanders 2025 with emphasis on better surveillance, prevention, control and elimination of the disease in equines. The scheme reinforces India's animal health security and supplements the One Health framework.

India has got a go-ahead from the government for bidding for the 2030 Commonwealth Games with the proposed host city being Ahmedabad. The decision follows the Indian Olympic Association's approval and follows Canada's withdrawal from the process. The Commonwealth Sport General Assembly will determine the final host city in November 2025.
