Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has introduced the CM Jan Sunwai Portal along with a dedicated mobile application, marking a significant expansion of the Capital’s digital governance framework. The initiative enables residents to file complaints online and strengthens institutional accountability through a technology-enabled grievance redressal mechanism. Simultaneously, the government rolled out enhanced e-District services and a redesigned admission system for students from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Disadvantaged Groups (DG), and Children with Special Needs (CWSN).

The scheme was unveiled by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during the presentation of the interim Budget. Under the programme, eligible beneficiaries will receive a monthly allowance of ₹1,500. The scheme will officially come into effect on 1 April 2026, ahead of its originally proposed August rollout.

First Scientific Assessment Reveals Healthy Fishing Cat Population

The first dedicated scientific assessment of the fishing cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) has established Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve as a major habitat for the globally vulnerable species. Drawing on camera-trap images from the all-India tiger estimation exercise, researchers documented 57 distinct individuals across more than 450 sq. km of the reserve. The findings were released on 22 February, commemorated as Fishing Cat Day.

Food safety authorities in Thiruvananthapuram have initiated an investigation into a suspected case of marine neurotoxin poisoning following multiple instances of severe illness linked to seafood consumption at a restaurant in Vizhinjam. The episode began on the night of 16 February, when three members of a six-member family developed acute symptoms. Two individuals succumbed within hours. In the following days, six additional cases of critical illness were reported, all associated with the same establishment and date.
