The Ministry of Women and Child Development will convene a National Conference on Safety of Women at Workplace (SHe-Box) at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on February 14, 2026. The event aims to strengthen enforcement of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) and reaffirm the government’s commitment to safe, respectful and harassment-free workplaces.

Researchers at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru, have reported a major advance in condensed matter physics by identifying an unconventional mechanism of heat transport in solids. The study, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), reveals a particle-to-wave crossover in phonon behaviour within a crystalline material exhibiting local disorder.

The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly has implemented an artificial intelligence-driven digital attendance system for Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), signalling a major step towards administrative modernisation. Speaker Ch Ayyanna Patrudu announced the reform at the opening of the Budget Session. A notification from Legislature Secretary General Prasanna Kumar Suryadevara confirmed that attendance recording through physical registers has been discontinued with immediate effect.

Kerala Introduces Monthly Pension for Women and Transwomen

The Government of Kerala has formally rolled out the Sthree Suraksha Scheme, a monthly pension programme designed to provide income support to unemployed women and transwomen from economically weaker sections. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the scheme in Malayinkeezhu, Thiruvananthapuram. The first instalment of Rs1,000 has been credited to more than 10.18 lakh approved beneficiaries.
