Bhubaneswar Leads with Integrated Heat and Cooling Action Plan

Bhubaneswar has gone a step ahead and is the first city in India to launch an action plan on heat and cooling known as the Integrated Heat and Cooling Action Plan (IHCAP). This project is a reaction to the increasing heat waves and the growing demand to cool, as it can help combat the cycle of rising temperatures that leads to higher air-conditioning use that further drives urban heat.

Himalayan Brown Bear and Climate Change

A Himalayan brown bear ( Uris arctos isabellinus ) recently attracted international media attention following an episode involving a Pakistani singer, Quratulain Balouch in the Deosai National Park, Gilgit-Baltistan. This incident is indicative of an increasing pattern of human-bear confrontation across the Himalayan region which has been mainly caused by habitat loss, climate change and the amount of food waste produced by humans. Previously regarded as a symbol of the wilderness, the species is currently growing under the pressure of human expansion.

ESTIC to Replace Indian Science Congress

The implementation of the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) in November 2025 will bring a significant shift to the scientific ecosystem in India. The two-day conference at Bharat Mandapam on 3-4 November 2025, organised by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), will be held in lieu of the Indian Science Congress (ISC), which has been the oldest scientific congregation in the country, but has nevertheless become less prominent in the recent past.

Arunachal Pradesh hosts the first Sunrise festival

On 29 December 2025 to 2 January 2026, Arunachal Pradesh will host the first Sunrise Festival of its kind in the Dong village, Anjaw district. The easternmost village of India, Dong, is known to have seen the first rays of the sun every day in the country. The mission of the event is to demonstrate the cultural diversity of the state, eco-tourism, and the adventure potential of the region.

Anokhi Duniya-World First Ceramic wastage park in Khurja

 

The government of Uttar Pradesh has also introduced a new break-through project through the establishment of the first in the world park named Anokhi Duniya, the first park to be constructed out of absolutely all ceramic waste. The park will be opened by the end of September 2025 located in Khurja, Bulandshahr district, the ceramic capital of India. It presents sustainability, ancient craftsmanship as well as innovation and sells the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme of the state.
