India Opens Telecom Safety Testing Network to enhance Digital Safety

The Government of India has taken a major step towards enhancing telecom security, when it designated M/s Compliance International Pvt. Ltd. Noida as an approved testing facility of IP Routers, under the CommunSec Scheme of Scheme. This addition gives India a total of nine accredited TSTLs spread between five states able to provide faster and cheaper testing services to manufacturers and other services providers.

The Fishing Cat is a rare species that was found at Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve

The first confirmed sighting of the elusive Fishing Cat ( Prionailurus viverrinus ) was reported to be in the Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve (RVTR) in Rajasthan. This discovery was made at the captured camera traps on a regular tiger check in the Bundi district and brings about the concealed biodiversity of the reserve and the flourishing aquatic environment.

New Species of Impatiens Discovered in the Western Ghats

A group of scientists at Madura College, Madurai have discovered a new plant species in the Kudremukh range of the Western Ghats in Karnataka. The plant was named Impatiens selvasinghii in honor of the efforts by Professor P. Selva Singh Richard in the reproductive biology of endangered and endemic plants in the area. This not only shows the spectacular richness of the Western Ghats but also indicates some serious conservation concerns raised by the increasing levels of tourism.

India Upgrades Advanced weather prediction through new DBNet stations

Under a large milestone in cementing weather prediction and disaster management, the National Centre of medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF) and New Space India limited (NSIL) has collaborated to have two Direct Broadcast Network (DBNet) stations under the Mission Mausam project. Its proposed stations to be installed in Delhi/ NCR and Chennai are going to allow almost real-time access to satellite data due to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, which will bring a breakthrough to the meteorological system of India.
