CM Stalin Unveils Skill Training Institute & Community Welfare Centre in Nagercoil
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated two key development facilities in Kanniyakumari district—a newly built Skill Training Centre at the Government ITI, Konam , and a Community Welfare Centre at Vattavilai . The projects were launched through video conferencing, marking a step forward in the State’s initiatives to uplift youth skill development and community welfare infrastructure.
Infrastructure Push for Technical Training
Following the virtual inauguration, Kanniyakumari District Collector R. Alagumeena led the on-ground ceremony by lighting the ceremonial lamp at the ITI Konam campus. She informed that the skill training centre was built at a cost of ₹2.40 crore , funded under the Prime Minister’s Minority Welfare Programme through the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department. The building is equipped with classrooms, workshops and modern training facilities , aimed at strengthening vocational learning and employability among students.
Community Welfare Centre to Benefit Local Residents
In addition, the CM also launched the multipurpose welfare centre at Vattavilai , constructed at a cost of ₹1.40 crore under the PMJVK scheme . The centre is expected to serve as a venue for various social, educational and welfare-driven activities, offering a common space for community development programmes in the region.
Senior officials including Assistant Collector Rahul Kumar , District Backward Classes Officer Senthur Pandian , and ITI Principal Philip Alwin were present during the event.
